Benjamin Cold

Dr. Benjamin Cold is hailed as a "passionate and gifted soloist" (Libby Larsen – 2015) with "flawless technique and intuitive musicianship" (Craig Kirchhoff – 2016). He currently serves as the Artist/Assistant Professor of Woodwinds at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. In this role, he guides students in applied single-reeds and double reeds, while also directing woodwind chamber ensembles like the saxophone quartet and clarinet choir. A dedicated champion of contemporary music, Dr. Cold has played a pivotal role in premiering and commissioning numerous compositions for solo and chamber saxophone, many of which were dedicated to him. His musical contributions have resonated on Classical Minnesota Public Radio, National Public Radio, and The Skeptics Guide to the Universe. Dr. Cold's extensive career has led him to engage with prestigious institutions across the nation. He has conducted residencies, master classes, and guest recitals at esteemed universities including the University of Minnesota, Bowling Green State University, Kansas State University, North Dakota State University, and the University of North Texas. His artistic influence extends beyond borders, with international performances and teaching experiences. Dr. Cold has captivated audiences and shared his expertise in France, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, London, Canada, and Cuba. His multifaceted endeavors echo his commitment to both nurturing emerging talent and showcasing the expressive potential of the saxophone.
