Douglas Prosser

Douglas Prosser received his Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance from the Eastman School of Music in 1985. Immediately upon completion of his studies he served as Principal Trumpet with the Colorado Philharmonic Orchestra.  In 1987 Prosser won the position of  Principal Trumpet of the City of Barcelona Symphony Orchestra in Barcelona, Spain. He was featured as a soloist on numerous occasions with the orchestra and gave the Catalan capital its premier performance of Tomasi’s concerto for trumpet and orchestra. In 1995 Prosser returned to the United States to join the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra as Principal Trumpet.Prosser is also active as substitute trumpeter with the Buffalo Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra.  Recent appearances include recitals and brass clinics in Rochester, Baltimore, Mexico, and Spain. His work as a symphonic performer can be heard on recordings with the CBS Masterworks, EMI Classics,  Harmonia Mundi, and Nonesuch labels.
