Joakim Toftgaard

Joakim Toftgaard is a trombonist and multi-instrumentalist born in Stockholm, Sweden. He is an active performer, studio musician, arranger, and educator based in Los Angeles. Joakim has been working as a freelance musician and arranger since 2005, with engagements spanning a multitude of genres. He has performance and arranging credits on jazz, funk, pop, soul, rock, and singer-songwriter albums. To date he has performed on two Grammy®-nominated recordings, and played shows in over 20 countries. Joakim plays trumpet, flugelhorn, trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, and french horn. Joakim is a founding member of the group Dallas Horns, and since 2018 he has been the trombonist and horn arranger for multi-Grammy® award winner A. R. Rahman, performing all over the world as well as recording on several movie soundtracks. Joakim has an undergraduate degree from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and a Master's degree from the University of North Texas.
