Jon Holloway

Dr. Jon Holloway is a horn player and teacher living in Portland, Oregon. He holds a Music Education degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, as well as horn performance degrees from New York University and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His dissertation, Efficient Strategies for Playing the Horn, has brought him acclaim in the area of brass pedagogy, a subject about which he is most passionate. Jon has active teaching studio both at Mt. Hood Community College and in the Portland community. In the past, Jon has also held teaching positions at UNLV and NYU. Jon also is active in the marching arts, teaching both drum corps and local marching bands. Dr. Holloway performs as third horn with The Newport Symphony. and has performed with Symphony Tacoma, Boise Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony, Portland Chamber Orchestra, and Las Vegas Philharmonic, among others. A proud member of IHS, CMS, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Dr. Holloway performs on a Holton H105 model horn.
