Daniel Hawthorne Foss

Danny Hawthorne-Foss thrived in the vibrant San Francisco music scene, performing across genres in jazz, salsa, folk, and classical ensembles. Earning his Bachelor's in saxophone performance from the University of Michigan in 2011, he's played with the UM Symphony Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Ann Arbor Symphony. Passionate about new music, Danny premiered compositions at Midwest Composers Symposiums in 2009 and 2010. He co-founded the Moanin' Frogs, a saxophone sextet specializing in vaudeville-era ragtime. A dedicated educator, he's taught at marching band camps, worked with local schools, and instructed the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles. Danny's now pursuing a Master's in saxophone performance with teaching certification at UM.
