Donald Babcock

Dr. Donald Babcock is professor of music in the School of Musicand Dance at Eastern Michigan University where he teaches both trombone and jazz. He also currently plays principal trombone in the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and performs recitals locally and around the country. Dr. Babcock has been featured in silent film scores as well as in classical and jazz recordings. He has performed with the Flint Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, Lansing Symphony and Kalamazoo Symphony. Other performances include appearances at regional band and orchestra conventions and regular radio broadcasts from Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Dr. Babcock has studied with Curtis Olson, Vern and Jan Kagarice, Thomas Ashworth, Nick Keelan and Dudley Bright. He holds a DMA from Michigan State University and a Master of Music from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, as well as a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Dr. Babcock is an active member of the International Trombone Association.
