Eric van der Heijden

Erik van der Heijden began to play the trumpet at the age of 8 at the music association Vios from Mijdrecht. There he was taught by Dirk-Jan de Boer and later by Dieuwke Kloppenburg and Diederik Ruisch. After 5 years of study at the conservatory in Utrecht with Angelo Verploegen, among others, he successfully graduated in June 2015. In addition, he plays or played, as a permanent member or substitute, in various bands and companies such as the Horns on Fire horn section, The Metropole Academy, Knarsetand, The Night Flight, Groove Department, the Amsterdam Bigband, Collectief Explosief, The Re:Freshed Orchestra. , La Fundacion, Def P and the Beatbusters, Gallowstreet Brassband and many others. He is also a teacher and works as a conductor. Since 2015, Erik has been musical director of the Mediacity Bigband from Hilversum and also founder of the Horns on Fire horn section.
