Gary Meggs

Gary Meggs, born in El Dorado, Arkansas, embarked on his musical journey in 6th grade under Bill Craig. Guided by mentors like Hal Cooper, he earned accolades as a saxophonist. Henderson State University honed his skills under Wendell Evanson and Earl Hesse. Notable achievements include being named Outstanding Jazz Soloist at Memphis State University Jazz Festival. With 22 years in Texas public schools, Meggs led bands to UIL honors. He revitalized the University of Arkansas at Monticello band, nurturing growth from 35 to 140 members. His UAM Jazz Band 1 shone at national events, including China and Midwest international conferences. A Glenn Miller Orchestra saxophonist, Meggs remains dedicated to jazz education and performance.
