John Perrine

John Perrine, Saxophonist, leads as Jazz Ensemble Director and Jazz Studies Coordinator. Championing new music, he premiered works by Juusela, Johnson, and Price. With a doctorate from Louisiana State University, a Northwestern University masters, and a Stetson University BME, Perrine studied under notables like Bishop, Hemke, and Helton. Jazz tutelage from Blanchard, Owens, Garcia, and Koucour further shaped his artistry. Recently, he mesmerized audiences globally, performing Bolcom's Concert Suite in Russia and leading masterclasses at prestigious conservatories. Perrine's Red Stick Saxophone Quartet excels, securing MTNA and Fischoff prizes. His compositions, like "Vonnegut: Suite for Saxophone Quartet," astound at notable events like the North American Saxophone Alliance Convention.
