Jonathan Holden

Jonathan Holden, a British-born clarinetist, holds the position of Assistant Professor of Clarinet at Florida State University. He is the Principal Clarinetist of the West Michigan Symphony and a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. He co-founded the Vireo Ensemble and the Argot Trio, performing with several symphony orchestras and ensembles. As an accomplished soloist and chamber collaborator, Holden has a rich history of performing concertos in the UK and the US. He has won competitions and been a semi-finalist in international competitions. His performances span prestigious festivals and universities worldwide, including Brazil, Panama, France, and the US. Holden champions contemporary music and has worked with notable composers. He has commissioned and performed new works with the Argot Trio, contributing to a forthcoming CD. His recordings include chamber music by Steven Holochwost and William Bergsma. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts from Michigan State University under the guidance of Dr. Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr, and his BM and MM degrees from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. With an impressive career, Jonathan Holden continues to make his mark as a clarinetist, educator, and advocate for new music.
