Katrina Clements

Dr. Katrina Clements is Assistant Professor of Music at Valley City State University in North Dakota where she teaches applied woodwinds, aural skills, and woodwind methods. Clements is the bass clarinet/3rd clarinet for the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and has previously played with the Santa Fe Symphony, New Mexico Philharmonic, and Arizona Philharmonic. During the summer, Clements is an active clinician at chamber music workshops and teaches at the Minnesota Clarinet Academy. As a proponent of creative collaborations across art disciplines, her current work focuses on commissioning and performing new pieces for clarinet and multimedia that include visuals to create deeper sensory experiences for audiences. Recent premieres and lectures include International ClarinetFest®, College Music Society Regional Conferences, Oh My Ears New Music Festival, and presentations for studios across the US. Clements was a winner of the 2019 Arizona State University Concerto Competition and performed as a soloist with the ASU Wind Symphony. She won the concerto competition at the University of Minnesota (2017) and the University of New Mexico (2013), and has appeared as an invited soloist with the New Life Symphony Orchestra Southwest and the Symphony Orchestra of Albuquerque. Internationally, Clements performed as principal clarinet of the Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Festival orchestra (2018) throughout the Czech Republic. She was principal clarinet of the Spazio Music Festival (2014) in Orvieto, Italy. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Clements holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from Arizona State University where she was a clarinet Teaching Assistant. She received a MM from the University of Minnesota in clarinet performance, and a BME from the University of New Mexico. Primary teachers include Robert Spring, Joshua Gardner, Alex Fiterstein, and Keith Lemmons. Katrina Clements performs on the Henri SELMER Paris Privilège clarinets and bass clarinet.
