Larry Larson

Larry Larson has been Principal Trumpet of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony since 1993. He is a proud graduate of DePaul University (BMus, 1982) where he was a student of Ross Beacraft. In addition, he spent two years under the tutelage of the legendary Adolph “Bud” Herseth as a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. As a soloist with the KWS, Larry has premiered trumpet concertos of Canadian composers John Estacio (2017) and Scott Good (2009), and has also performed in orchestras across Canada. He released his first solo CD, “Divertissement,” of music for Trumpet & Harp with Lori Gemmell in 2010. Larry is a proud member of Andrew Burashko’s “Art Of Time Ensemble” (Toronto). As leader of “Larry’s Jazz Guys,” he wears a different hat as leader of his own 4-6 piece jazz combo that performs across southern Ontario in various concert halls and clubs. Larry also enjoys an active studio career in Toronto on motion picture soundtracks and commercials.
