Rhett Bender

Rhett Bender, D.Mus.A., is a multifaceted music professional at the Oregon Center for the Arts, Southern Oregon University. As a Professor, he imparts knowledge in music theory and saxophone performance. He co-founded the Mazama and Globe Saxophone Quartets, plays in JitaZax, and directs the Siskiyou Saxophone Orchestra and Cascade Clarinet Consort. He's a woodwind artist at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and a saxophonist in symphony orchestras. Rhett is an esteemed educator, Region 1 Director of the North American Saxophone Alliance, and a sought-after Guest Artist-Teacher in China. He's featured in Saxophone Journal and Strings Magazine for his impactful teaching methods. Author of "An Annotated Bibliography of American Saxophone Quartets" and "The Saxophone is NOT a Clarinet!", his contributions extend to diverse publications. An acclaimed soloist, Bender's performances span international venues, showcased at World Saxophone Congresses and renowned events. He has premiered notable works and released solo saxophone albums. Rhett Bender is a Conn Selmer Artist Clinician and an exclusive Selmer Paris saxophonist.
