Tomer Maschkowski
Tomer Maschkowski, born in 1982 to an Israeli family in Rotterdam, Holland, embarked on his trombone journey at the age of 13, mentored by his grandfather, a former trombonist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He became a student at Rotterdam Codarts University, later gaining acceptance into the Staatskapelle Berlin Akademie and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, where he had the privilege of learning under the guidance of maestro Daniel Barenboim.
Tomer furthered his formal studies under the tutelage of Andreas Klein and Rainer Vogt, eventually earning his Master's degree from UdK Berlin in 2013. Since 2012, he has served as the bass-trombone player of the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin. He is frequently invited to perform as a guest trombonist with esteemed orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Concertgebouw Orchestra, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Lucerne Festival, Staatskapelle Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, San Francisco Symphony, and more.
In addition to his orchestral work, Tomer has showcased his talents as a soloist in numerous concerts across Asia, Germany, and the USA. Alongside his performance commitments, he dedicates his time to teaching at Rostock (Hochschule für Musik) alongside Jamie Williams, and he conducts masterclasses worldwide on a regular basis.
Since 2023, Tomer Maschkowski proudly holds the title of "Bach Artist." He has been a member of various brass ensembles, including the International Trombone Ensemble and the Trombone Unit Hannover. Furthermore, Tomer frequently collaborates as a guest musician with the Berliner Philharmoniker Brass Ensemble and the Lucerne Festival Brass Ensemble.
