Vairis Nartiss
Vairis Nartiss is one of the leading trombone players in Baltic countries.
Solo performer, Composer, Producer, and Co-principal Trombone player in Latvian National opera Symphony orchestra since 1996.
Vairis studied at the Latvian Music academy and received his Master of Arts degree in 2002. During his studies Vairis received instruction from many profressors and solists - Christian Lindberg, Jorgen van Rijen, Per Kristian Svensen, Niels Ole Bo Johansen, Mogens Andresen etc.
In addition to his orchestral experience Vairis is mostly known as a Solo performer in the unique Instrumental Stand-up comedy genre. He has also been a founder member and leader in many chamber ensembles such as Shady Brass Q, and Riga Brass.
Vairis has performed in many countries - Germany, Sweden, Luxembourg, Spain, France, Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Norway, Hong Kong Taiwan, Netherlands, and Belgium both as a soloist, and as a member of The Latvian National opera.
Beside his artistic activities Vairis engages in many music community and social projects.
He founded and sponsors the Vairis Nartiss program for talented young wind players, was Goodwill ambassador in Latvia of the European Year of Volunteering 2011, is member of the board at the Latvian Brass association, and is the owner in one of biggest Music stores in Latvia - Vairis Nartiss Music store NartissLV.
Vairis is active as a talent scout – searching out young musicians in Latvia in order to give them an opportunity to develop their talent through masterclasses, while acting as a musical mentor and where necessary supporting young musicians with a gifted instrument.
