Xavier Sousa

Xavier Sousa is the Lead Trombone of Orquestra Jazz do Funchal, Event Production Coordinator at Conservatório Escola Profissional das Artes da Madeira, and a freelance Trombonist. He holds a Bachelor in Jazz Trombone performance from Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo and a Masters in Music Education from Universidade de Aveiro.

His versatility has allowed him to play with a variety of artists and bands, such as Tiago Nacarato, Rui Taipa, Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos, Orquestra Jazz do Porto, Orquestra Bamba Social, Pedro Melo Alves' Omniae Ensemble, Expensive Soul, Mundo Secreto, Souls of Fire, Os Azeitonas, Uprising Band, Funk You Brass Band, among others.

Xavier has recorded albums with bands such as Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos, Orquestra Bamba Social, Afonso Dubraz, Pedro Melo Alves' Omniae Ensemble.

During his career, he played at festivals such as Guimarães Jazz, Festa do Jazz São Luiz, Festival Jazz Valado dos Frades, Bragança Jazz, European Jazz Conference, Salzburg Jazz, MEO Marés Vivas, Festival do Crato, EDP Cool Jazz, Funchal Jazz.
