Richard Victor

Conn Selmer Educational Clinician

Richard Victor had a 37-year career as HS Band Director and Music Coordinator for the State College Area School District. He is currently an Adjunct Instructor for University at Buffalo Graduate School of Education, teaching online courses in Music Program Leadership, Advocacy, and Jazz Pedagogy.

He was president of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association in 2000-02 and served as the PMEA Advocacy Chair until 2017. He was president of the PA Unit of IAJE, was PMEA All-State Jazz Coordinator and PMEA News Jazz Editor and is a past chair for the NAfME Council for Jazz Education. He was the guest director of the 2013 PMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble.

Mr. Victor is a recipient of many awards for outstanding teaching and, in 2020, was inducted into the PMEA Hall of Fame. He frequently serves as a clinician, consultant, and/or featured speaker for school districts and music events, and is active as a guest conductor and adjudicator for concert band and jazz events.
