Francesco D'Urso

Francesco D’Urso is a versatile musician, active both as an orchestral musician and as principal trombone of the Geneva Chamber Orchestra since October 2016, as well as in chamber music, creating performances and collaborating with other artistic disciplines.

Notably, he performs in a duo with harp and a duo with the organ, and he was a founding member of the MOYA Trombones quartet between 2005 and 2019, which presented their shows and gave masterclasses in France, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany.

He is a trombone teacher at the Geneva Conservatory of Music for the MusicEnsemble (coordinated by Maestro Domingo Hindoyan and sponsored by Maestro Gustavo Dudamel and soprano Sonya Yoncheva) as well as at the Multisite School of Music (Canton of Vaud, Switzerland).

Various compositions have been dedicated to him by composers such as David Short, Corrado Maria Saglietti, Alexandre Mastrangelo, Domenico Turi, Alfonso Yépez Santamaría, Khaled Arman, Massimo Pinca, and more.

Working closely with all these composers was crucial in making his albums, including Stella (2015), Paradise Bone (2021), and Sueño el Sur (2023).

He has performed and collaborated with numerous institutions, including the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the National Orchestra of the Academy of St. Cecilia in Rome, and many more, under the direction of prestigious maestri.

He has been involved in numerous collaborations in various European countries as a soloist and teacher of advanced masterclasses.

Francesco D’Urso is a Vincent Bach artist and an ambassador for René Hagmann® systems, dedicated to trombone cylinders and developed by Servette-Music in Geneva.
