Aaron Spears (October 26, 1976 – 2023) was a powerhouse drummer whose explosive energy and precision made him one of the most influential live performers of his generation. Raised in Washington, DC, he found his musical foundation in the Pentecostal church, where his passion for drums was evident from an early age. That early gospel influence shaped the intensity, feel, and musicality that would define his career.Aaron first gained national attention with the DC-based Gideon Band before catching the ear of Usher’s musical director, Valdez Brantley. He went on to join Usher’s touring band and contributed to the multi-platinum album Confessions, touring globally with the “Funk Rock Orchestra.” His commanding presence behind the kit soon placed him among the most sought-after drummers in pop and R&B.Throughout his career, Aaron performed with major artists including Usher, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Miley Cyrus. Known for his thunderous chops, dynamic showmanship, and deep pocket, he blended gospel roots with technical mastery, inspiring a generation of drummers worldwide.
