Alan Rubin
Trumpeter Alan Rubin (1943-2011) attended The Juilliard School, where he studied with William Vacchiano before leaving to tour with Robert Goulet as his lead trumpet player. In addition, Alan was a member of the Saturday Night Live band. As a member of The Blues Brothers Band, he was featured in both the original 1980 film and the 1998 sequel, and was given the nickname “Mr. Fabulous” by John Belushi. Alan performed on over 6000 recording sessions with a wide range of artists including Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra, Blood Sweat & Tears, Cab Callaway, Billy Joel, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Gil Evans, Sting, James Taylor, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Paul Simon, Peggy Lee, and many others.
