Andrew Brown
Andrew Brown joined the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006 and serves as Third/Bass Clarinetist. In addition to his work in Rochester, he performs with orchestras throughout the region and around the country, and maintains an active presence in chamber music, appearing regularly in ensembles across upstate New York and in performances nationwide and abroad. His work spans a broad range of repertoire from classical masterworks to contemporary music.
Andrew is committed to music education and maintains a vibrant teaching studio as an Instructor of Clarinet at the Eastman Community Music School. He values the role of teaching in strengthening the musical community and is dedicated to supporting the development, confidence, and artistic growth of young musicians.
Beyond the stage and studio, Andrew serves as Director of Finance and Accounting at The Hochstein School and believes strongly in contributing to his community. He previously served for five years as a volunteer firefighter, an experience that continues to shape his commitment to service and civic engagement.
He holds degrees from The Ohio State University and the Eastman School of Music and is an alumnus of the Aspen Music Festival.
Andrew performs primarily on the Selmer Recital clarinet and has also performed extensively on the Selmer Signature model.
