Bethany Vaughan
Bethany Vaughan is a Chicago based freelance trumpet player and educator as well as a member of Axiom Brass.In the orchestral sphere, she has performed with groups all over North America, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra (Ottawa), as well as with the orchestras of Houston, Indianapolis, Louisville, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Rochester, and Virginia (Norfolk) among others. In the chamber sphere, she has toured with Seraph Brass and Stiletto Brass, in addition to her work with Axiom.A native Texan, Bethany grew up studying with James Austin (former Principal Trumpet of the Houston Symphony) and attended Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She then completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University, where she studied with John Rommel and took baroque trumpet lessons with Kris Kwapis. For her masters degree, she attended Northwestern University, studying with David Bilger, Michael Sachs, and Thomas Rolfs. Bethany spent summers as a fellow at the Aspen Music Festival, National Arts Centre Orchestra Mentorship Program, Round Top Festival Institute, and the Texas Music Festival. She has performed at the Bravo! Vail and Blossom music festivals and serves as a Resident Artist for the Caroga Lake Music Festival.
