Brian Johnston

Brian Johnston is currently on faculty at Mount Royal University. He is a former member of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Lima Symphony Orchestra & Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Toledo Symphony, Detroit Opera, & the New World Symphony. Brian's teaching experience also includes the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Fort Wayne Youth Symphony Orchestra. He attended Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music Summer Trombone Workshop with Michael Mulcahy in 2018. Brian's primary teachers have included Jay Friedman, John Rojak, John Faieta, & Eric Reynolds. Brian plays exclusively on a vintage Mount Vernon Bach 42 Trombone. He resides in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with his wife Laurie, and their dog Leo.
