Dafydd Thomas
Dafydd is currently Principal Trombone No.2 of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
Originally from Carmarthenshire, Dafydd moved to Cardiff to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he gained BMus (Hons) and MA degrees. During his time at the college he was fortunate enough to play twice at Buckingham Palace as part of Gala Concert Showcases to HRH Prince of Wales. It was during his time at RWCMD that he co-founded Top Brass Trio, who perform regularly within the community providing education workshops and concerts in Hospitals.
Since graduating he has played with various orchestras across the UK which include BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
In 2023 he was appointed 2nd Trombone of Welsh National Opera where he held the position for 18 months before taking up his current role with the BBC NOW.
