Dr. Dakota Corbliss holds the esteemed position of Assistant Professor of Horn at Appalachian State University, which is located in the picturesque surroundings of Boone, North Carolina. His dedication to music education and horn performance has taken him to various institutions, where he has shared his expertise and passion with students. Dr. Corbliss previously served as an instructor of horn at the University of South Carolina, UNC-Wilmington, and Coastal Carolina University.
As an accomplished ensemble performer, Dr. Corbliss's musical journey encompasses various roles. He currently serves as the Third Horn in the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, contributing to the orchestra's harmonious sound. Additionally, he holds the role of Assistant Horn with the South Carolina Philharmonic, further enriching the world of classical music with his horn expertise.
Dr. Corbliss's talents extend to many other regional orchestras, where his horn performances are highly regarded. He has lent his skills to orchestras such as the North Carolina Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, Augusta Symphony, Virginia Symphony, and Long Bay Symphony, enhancing their performances with his horn mastery.
His impressive musical journey has also seen him collaborate with renowned musical organizations. In the past, Dr. Corbliss had the honor of performing with the New World Symphony, Miami City Ballet, South Florida Philharmonic, New River Valley Symphony, the United States Navy Band Southwest, the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band, and many other distinguished ensembles. His contribution to these esteemed organizations has left an indelible mark on the world of classical music.
Dr. Dakota Corbliss is not only an ensemble performer but also an ardent chamber musician. He was instrumental in founding Vice City Brass, a collective of brass and electronic musicians united by a shared goal of bridging the generational gap between the past, present, and future of music. Vice City Brass has recently achieved a significant milestone by releasing their debut album, titled "TELECONFERENCE," which showcases their innovative approach to music and their commitment to pushing the boundaries of musical expression.
