Daniel Matthews
Daniel Matthews is a trumpet player based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He has performed with artists such as Father John Misty, Pacific Mambo Orchestra and A.R. Rahman. Daniel is a founder of the horn section “Dallas Horns.”. They have been heard on movie soundtracks and global tours for Grammy and Oscar award winning composer A.R. Rahman. Daniel has performed at jazz festivals throughout the world including; The Montreaux Jazz Festival, Jazz A Vienne in France, The Serendipity Arts Festival in Goa, India, and The Monterey Jazz Festival. He held an adjunct faculty position for The University of North Texas in 2016. Daniel teaches private lessons for Plano ISD, Carroll ISD, and is the professor of trumpet at Collin College. Daniel earned a BM in Jazz Studies from San Jose State University and a MM in Jazz Studies from The University of North Texas, where he was a member of the Grammy-nominated One ‘O Clock Lab Band.
