Artist
Don Aliquo
Reed player Don Aliquo's journey of growth is deeply influenced by his father, saxophonist Don Aliquo Sr. Raised in Pittsburgh, he absorbed jazz from an early age. Despite initially preferring clarinet, he switched to sax, playing alongside local musicians. He gained invaluable experience in the vibrant Pittsburgh club scene, and later joined Roger Humphries' band, performing with artists like Stanley Turrentine. At Duquesne University, Aliquo honed his skills with Eric Kloss and embraced both jazz and classical music. Berklee College of Music in Boston expanded his horizons, and he played with notable bands. Returning to Duquesne, he formed his quartet and collaborated with luminaries like Gary Burton. Aliquo's growth extended internationally, teaching and performing in China and Colombia. He reflects on his journey, paralleling Nashville's development and his personal evolution.
