Greg Ward
Greg Ward is an acclaimed saxophonist, composer, and educator whose artistry spans jazz, contemporary, and improvised music. Known for his distinctive sound and forward-looking approach, Ward has established himself as one of the most versatile and dynamic voices in modern music.
As a bandleader, Ward has released a series of critically lauded recordings, including Phonic Juggernaut (2011), Touch My Beloved’s Thought (2016), Stomping Off From Greenwood (2019), Dion's Quest (2023), and Full Cream (2024). His projects demonstrate a unique ability to merge tradition with innovation, often weaving together influences from jazz, classical, hip-hop, and global musical traditions.
Beyond his own ensembles, Ward has collaborated with leading artists across genres, performing and recording with musicians such as Linda May Han Oh, Mike Reed, and Makaya McCraven. His performances have taken him to major festivals, concert halls, and clubs around the world.
In addition to his career as a performer and composer, Ward is deeply committed to education. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Music at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he mentors the next generation of improvisers and composers.
