His orchestral career began in 1991 as a fellow with the New World Symphony, working under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. During his time with the New World Symphony, he contributed to three of the orchestra's recordings on the Argo Decca label. One of these recordings, "Tangazo: Music of Latin America," received a prestigious Grammy nomination.

In 1994, Miller was appointed Associate Principal Horn and Assistant Personnel Manager of the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra. His orchestral experiences extend to performing with notable ensembles such as the Detroit, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and National Symphony Orchestras. In addition, he has collaborated with ballet companies including the Miami City Ballet, Washington Ballet, and orchestras like the Kennedy Center Opera and Palm Beach Opera. In 2015, Miller showcased his talent as a guest principal horn with the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, followed by a similar role with the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico during their European tour in the subsequent year.
