Jack Grimm

Jack Grimm is the Principal Trombonist for the Columbus Symphony and Harrisburg Symphony Orchestras, and has previously held the same position in the Quad City Symphony Orchestra in Davenport Iowa. Along with his symphonic playing, Jack performs in big bands, musical theater pits, and pursues writing and arranging music for big band, and New Orleans style brass band projects.Jack attended Northwestern University where he majored in trombone performance, studying with Michael Mulcahy, Doug Wright, Tim Higgins, Randy Hawes, and Christopher Davis. During college, Jack performed in the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Big Band, and performed and recorded with the DW Jazz Orchestra, Brian Eng Jazz Orchestra, and Andy Baker Orchestra. After his undergraduate, Jack spent a year in New York City performing with regional orchestras and studying with Colin Williams of the New York Philharmonic at The Manhattan School of Music. In the summer of 2023, Jack was a fellow at the Aspen Music Festival, performing on trombone and bass trumpet with the Aspen Festival Orchestra. Outside of performing Jack enjoys hiking, writing music, as well as playing and watching tennis.
