Javon Jackson
Javon Jackson, born June 16, 1965, in Carthage, Missouri, grew up in Denver, Colorado. He embraced saxophone at 10, switching to tenor at 16. He studied at the University of Denver and Berklee College of Music before joining Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers alongside greats like Benny Green. He recorded with James Williams, Christian McBride, and Elvin Jones for his debut "Me and Mr. Jones" (1991). Part of Elvin Jones' group, he released albums exploring diverse genres. Composing for Alfred Hitchcock's "The Lodger" and acclaimed tributes like "Celebrating John Coltrane" highlight his career. Javon teaches at Hartt School while continuing his musical journey.
