Jeffrey Heisler

Saxophonist Jeffrey Heisler, celebrated for his contemporary music advocacy, is Oakland University's newly appointed Professor of Saxophone and Conducting. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from Bowling Green State University, studying with John Sampen, and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Central Michigan University with John Nichol. He clinched a gold medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition with the Blue Square Saxophone Quartet, receiving national acclaim. Heisler has premiered works by renowned composers, collaborated with Morton Subotnick, and performed worldwide. A versatile artist, he's been part of notable orchestras, and his career intertwines performance, education, and championing contemporary music.
