John Wilds

John Wilds, a native of Seattle, Washington received his first musical training from his father on the great highland bagpipes. Later, his musical training took him to Central Washington University and Indiana University where he studied with Louis Davidson and Allan Dean. In 1988 joined the trumpet section of the San Diego Symphony as Opera Principal/Second Trumpet. Prior to this position he was served as Principal Trumpet of the New Mexico, and Mississippi Symphonies , San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Associate Principal of the Orquestra Metropoltana de Lisboa, Second Trumpet at the Santa Fe Opera and a frequent substitute in the Los Angeles Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony. His academic associations currently are as Adjunct Instructor of Trumpet at San Diego State University, and Point Loma Nazarene University. John is the trumpet coach for Rancho Bernardo High School and member of the Westwind Brass Quintet. John is the author of Basics of Trumpet Performance.
