Joshua Wagner

Mr. Wagner is the Director of Jazz Bands, instructor of applied trumpet, and teaches music appreciation at Northwestern Michigan College (Traverse City, MI). Additionally he serves as a jazz and solo & ensemble adjudicator/clinician for the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association and Central Michigan University and is a strong advocate for jazz education. Besides his previous experience touring the US performing and presenting masterclasses, he has a busy freelance schedule throughout the Midwest and regular engagements as a soloist and a member of the Traverse Symphony Jazz Orchestra. His primary teachers include Dennis Horton, Jay Crouch, Danny Barber, Mike Williams, Robbie Smith, Pat Harbison, David Baker, and Joey Tartell. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies & Trumpet from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where he was the recipient of the Jamey & Sara Aebersold Jazz Studies Fellowship.
