Kristin Andlauer
Kristin Andlauer is an accomplished American orchestral horn player and the newly-appointed Principal Horn of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. Born and raised in Morris County, New Jersey, Kristin began her musical journey at the age of twelve, quickly developing a deep passion for the horn. Over the course of her career, she has performed with a range of ensembles, including the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Reading Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony in C.
Kristin received her Bachelor’s degree in horn performance from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied under Peter Kurau. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studies with esteemed faculty members Jeffrey Lang and Jennifer Montone and is the Thomas and Patricia Vernon Fellow. She has been fortunate to attend and perform at leading music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, the Music Academy of the West, and the Round Top Festival Institute. Additionally, Kristin has also been a substitute musician with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the New World Symphony.
In addition to her performance career, Kristin is deeply committed to youth music education and community outreach. She is passionate about providing access to the performing arts for students and families in resilient communities. Kristin dedicates much of her time outside of the orchestra to teaching and supporting community arts programs in the Greater Philadelphia area, working to inspire the next generation of musicians and fostering a love of music.
