Lorenzo Ferrero
Born in Lima, Peru, Lorenzo Ferrero is a Grammy-nominated and Latin Grammy-winning saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music, Lorenzo moved to Vienna, Austria, to be part of “The Snow Owl Quintet” alongside Juan Garcia-Herreros, Roberto Quintero, and Hector Martignon throughout their European tour. One of the highlights during this time was his commission by the Vienna University of Technology to write the opening for their 200th Anniversary Ceremony of their annual ball celebration, which was premiered in January 2015.
In 2016, Lorenzo moved to Los Angeles, where he continues to work and perform alongside some of the most talented individuals in the entertainment business. He has worked as a performer, arranger, and/or producer in several film productions for acclaimed film composers such as Christopher Young, Thomas Chase Jones, and Federico Jusid, among others. His latest film credits include Detroit (2017) and most recently, Ola de Crimenes (2018) for Netflix.
Lorenzo also continues to expand his career as a performer, sharing the stage with world-renowned artists such as Alex Acuña, Nestor Torres, Otmaro Ruiz, Oscar Stagnaro, Ramon Stagnaro, to name a few. While in Los Angeles, Lorenzo has fulfilled a lifetime dream and, alongside Peruvian saxophonist Anibal Seminario, he is now the co-founder and director of The Afro Peruvian Jazz Orchestra; a 22-piece Big Band that blends Afro Peruvian rhythms and culture with traditional Big Band music style. They have performed at several jazz festivals in the US, and their last album, "Tradiciones," was nominated for the Latin Grammys 2020 for the best Jazz album, and Lorenzo’s arrangement of “La Flor De La Canela” won the award for Best Arrangement.
Lorenzo is also the founder of Tonealley Academy, an online education site that helps students all over the world expand their musical vocabulary.
