Ralph Alessi

Ralph Alessi is a trumpet player/composer and ECM recording artist. Over his career he has played and recorded with the likes of Fred Hersch, Steve Coleman, Ravi Coltrane, Jason Moran, Sam Rivers, Tim Berne, Uri Caine and many others. In January 2026, he will release his 5th record for the ECM label. As an educator, he has taught at the Eastman School of Music, NYU, University of Nevada-Reno, HKB-Bern and currently is a visiting professor at the Accademia Nazionale del Jazz in Siena,Italy. Since 2001, he has been the founder/director of the School for Improvisational Music, an international workshop series that takes place in Brooklyn, NY (www.schoolforimprov.org).
