Scott Meredith

Dr. Scott Meredith is Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Oklahoma City University’s Bass School of Music and lives in Oklahoma City. Dr. Meredith currently serves as Principal Trumpet with the Olympia Symphony Orchestra, Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Collaborative Orchestra, Lake Chelan Bach Festival, and Vashon Opera. He also performs with the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Auburn Symphony, Yakima Symphony, Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, North Corner Chamber Orchestra, and Symphony Tacoma.

Prior to his appointment at OCU, Dr. Meredith held faculty positions at the University of Wyoming, University of Northern Colorado, and the University of North Texas. He also maintains a strong commitment to music education, having taught private trumpet students of all ages and served as a brass coach for numerous Seattle-area high schools and colleges.

Dr. Meredith has performed nationally with the Orgon East Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, Cheyenne Symphony, Fort Collins Symphony, Greeley Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony, Oregon East Symphony, Irving, Plano, and San Angelo Symphonies, Dallas Wind Symphony, North Carolina Pops, Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, and the Colorado Music Festival.

He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the University of North Texas, and dual Bachelor of Music degrees in Education and Performance from the University of Northern Colorado.

His recording credits include the premiere of Jennifer Higdon’s Trumpet Songs on the album Chamber Music of Jennifer Higdon (“Trumpets can sing, too, and trumpeter Scott Meredith does just that, displaying a gorgeous tone and sense of phrasing.” — Fanfare MagazineOutside of music,
