Scott D. Plugge, Director of the School of Music, is an adept educator and accomplished saxophonist. His role at SHSU encompasses teaching applied saxophone, chamber music, and administrative duties. Additionally, he collaborates with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra as a performer. Revered as a soloist, Scott's performances have graced stages across the U.S., Europe, China, and beyond, earning accolades for his elegance, mellow tone, and virtuosity. His illustrious career boasts awards like the MTNA Concerto Competition and recognition in Marquis Who's Who publications. Scott's journey includes faculty positions at esteemed institutions and membership in acclaimed ensembles like the Texas Saxophone Quartet. He's a Selmer artist-clinician, holding degrees from Baylor University and Northwestern University under the guidance of Dr. Frederick L. Hemke.
