Tobi Zillner – Driven by Groove
Tobi Zillner hails from Nuremberg and has been immersed in music since early childhood. He started piano lessons at the age of five, and picked up the euphonium two years later. As a kid, he spent many years playing in a symphonic orchestra—a time that left a lasting impression.
At 17, Tobi discovered the trombone and made his way into the world of big bands, performing as a soloist on both trombone and guitar. He later pursued a jazz trombone degree, where he expanded his musical range and got hooked on the tuba.
That’s when he found his true voice: laying down groove, soul, and funk on the tuba and sousaphone. Since then, Tobi has been an active member of various jazz, soul, and funk bands, bringing deep rhythm and energy to every performance.
In 2022, he joined the Benny Greb Brass Band as their sousaphonist. Today, you can catch Tobi live on stage—whether solo, with the Brass Band, or as part of John Q. Irritated.
Versatile, passionate, and always grooving—Tobi Zillner brings the soul of music to life.
