Tom Fountain

Tom Fountain is the Principal Trumpet of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. He appears as guest principal with other major UK orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra among others and was previously Principal Trumpet of the Ulster Orchestra.

Alongside his orchestral work, Tom is busy as a session musician. He has recorded scores by composers such as John Powell, Alexandre Desplat, Alan Menken and Michael Giacchino, with films including Wicked, Fantastic Four: First Steps, Spellbound and Frankenstein.

Tom began playing the cornet in the Salvation Army and enjoyed an upbringing in brass bands as a previous Principal Cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and GUS Band. As an alumni of both the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music, he was made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2024.
