Wayne Bennett

Wayne Bennett is an accomplished trumpeter and music educator based in Atlanta, Georgia, recognized for his versatility as a soloist, chamber musician, and freelance artist. He has collaborated with various orchestras, chamber ensembles, and brass quintets throughout his career. Currently, Bennett performs as the director of Gate City Brass and is an endorsing artist for Bach trumpets.

Dr. Bennett teaches trumpet at Georgia State University’s Perimeter College and Agnes Scott College. He has served as an Artist/Faculty Adjudicator for the National Trumpet Competition and remains an active member of the International Trumpet Guild. His previous roles include teaching trumpet at Brenau University and Elon University, where he also directed the Elon Brass Quintet and coordinated the trumpet studio. Additionally, he has taught brass performance studies at Guilford College and managed the private instruction program as the Music Education Coordinator at The Music Center at City Arts of Greensboro.

Dr. Bennett holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Georgia, where he studied under former Canadian Brass trumpeter Fred Mills. He completed his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Trumpet Performance at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, studying as a graduate teaching assistant of Dr. Edward Bach.
