William Strieder
Will Strieder is a distinguished Professor of Music at Texas Tech University, where he brings a wealth of experience to his role as an educator and performer.
His educational journey took him through Northwestern University, where he earned a Masters of Music degree in Trumpet Performance and even secured a significant achievement by winning the Northwestern Concerto Competition. Prior to that, he studied at the University of Houston, where he received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education.
In the realm of orchestral playing, Mr. Strieder serves as the principal trumpet of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and takes on the role of second trumpet in the Houston Ballet Orchestra.
His musical contributions at Texas Tech extend beyond teaching, as he actively participates in the Faculty Brass Quintet and conducts the Trumpet Choir, engaging with students and fellow musicians alike.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Will Strieder's talents have resonated across the United States, Mexico, Europe, and China. He has performed with renowned musical groups such as the Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Clear Lake Symphony, Texas Opera Theater, Society for the Performing Arts in Houston, and the Millar Brass Ensemble.
His recordings, which include works such as Incantations for Trumpet and Piano, Rhapsody for solo trumpet and harp, and Trio Italiano by Mary Jeanne van Appledorn, have been released under the Opus One recording label. Additionally, Mr. Strieder's impressive performances can be heard in Fisher Tull’s Concerto for Trumpet, recorded with the Nurnberg Symphony Orchestra in Nurnberg, Germany, available on Albany Records.
Will Strieder's reach extends internationally, as he has appeared twice as a soloist with the UADY Chamber Orchestra of Merida, Mexico, showcasing his musical prowess on a global scale.
