Since 1894
The Yanagisawa Legacy
On a Tokyo repair bench in 1894, Tokutaro Yanagisawa repaired imported woodwinds for military band musicians. A craftsman of uncommon patience, he pursued a single aim: precision that serves expression. His workshop evolved into an instrument factory, the first to build woodwind instruments on Japanese soil. In 1951, his son Takanobu Yanagisawa, built the company's first prototype saxophone, beginning a legacy defined by an uncompromising pursuit of perfection in design, feel, and sound.
Over the decades, the company combined the skills of expert craftsmen with modern precision machinery to advance saxophone design, creating a full line of instruments with flawless balance and expressive depth and earning its place as Japan's premier saxophone maker. Each instrument is a masterclass in Japanese craftsmanship and engineering artistry, a perfect harmony of power and sensitivity. Crafted for musicians who seek precision with personality, Yanagisawa stands as a benchmark of Japanese excellence, where precision itself becomes art.
