Dr. Chester B. Phillips

Chester B. Phillips is the Director of the School of Music at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Prior to his current position, he was a band director for over 20 years where his ensembles received honors and accolades including the Sudler Flag of Honor, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 57th Presidential Inaugural Parade, the Tournament of Roses Parade, a national top-ten honor by the 2013 College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), and a top-five honor by the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Southern Division of CBDNA.
As a clinician, Dr. Phillips has presented for numerous state MEA conferences, Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic, Music For All Summer Symposium, Bands of America Regional Championships, College Band Directors National Association, Drum Corps Japan, and Rauman Poikasoittokunta (Youth Band) in Rauma, Finland. Dr. Phillips is a judge for DCI, BOA, and winter guards as well as a visual designer of over 200 marching band and winter guard productions.
