Marie Czapinski

Marie is distinguished as the only individual to have achieved Hall of Fame membership in the three elite pageantry arts. Her exceptional career includes:

Winter Guard International (WGI): Marie is a Hall of Fame member, Co-Founder, and previously served as Chief Judge. She was a WGI Adjudicator and Mentor from the organization's inception through 2015.

Music For All/Bands of America (BOA): As a Hall of Fame member, Marie played a key role in the planning stages at BOA’s inception. She continues to serve as a BOA Adjudicator and Clinician.

Drum Corps International (DCI): Marie is a Hall of Fame member, served as Visual Caption Coordinator, and adjudicated for more than 25 years before retiring in 2022. She is currently the Corps Manager for the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps in Rockford, IL.

Midwest Color Guard Circuit: Marie also holds a Hall of Fame membership in this organization.

Marie is widely recognized as an expert in color guard and overall show production concepts. Her extensive list of accomplishments reflects her role as a participant, instructor, designer, and adjudicator, working with the nation’s leading marching bands and drum corps.

Marie’s career is marked by her success in teaching students and band directors through both hands-on workshops and clinic settings. She has also trained judges in the United States, Canada, Japan, England, and the Netherlands. Her teaching experience ranges from guiding championship drum corps, winter guards, and marching bands to top honors, to working with ensembles focused on local performances or festival participation.

Her coordination of halftime performances for events such as the Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl, and her pioneering clinic introducing color guard to 2,000 teachers at the Texas Bandmasters Convention demonstrate her influential role in pageantry education.

Marie is highly regarded for her clinic presentations, known for their integrity, creativity, and clarity. She consistently brings innovative ideas to the field, ensuring that her message is heartfelt, knowledgeable, and tailored to the group’s needs, regardless of audience size. Her customized workshops offer hands-on participation and provide valuable insights into competitive adjudication, as well as practical tools for pre-production, post-production, rehearsal strategies, and show design coordination.

Marie is available for both on-site and virtual visits to marching band and winter guard rehearsals. She offers feedback to directors and staff on program pacing, improvement strategies, and audience engagement, further showcasing her commitment to advancing the art of pageantry.
