Eric Jimenez
Eric Jimenez is a music education consultant and the Educational Support Manager at Conn Selmer, Inc., bringing over 15 years of transformative experience to the field. He has played a pivotal role in elevating Houston’s band programs, leading ensembles to Division I and “Best in Class” ratings at UIL and other festivals while fostering student engagement and morale.
As co-host of The Score Podcast, Eric addresses critical issues in music education, including culturally responsive teaching, equity, and practical classroom strategies. His thought leadership has earned him national recognition, including being named Teacher of the Year at Hamilton Middle School (2012), LULAC Educator of the Year (2015), among Prairie View A&M University’s top 40 Under 40 (2016), and featured in Yamaha’s 40 Under 40 (2021).
Beyond consulting, Eric is an active clinician, mentor, and speaker across the U.S. and Mexico. His research interests focus on integrating, Cumbia, Banda Sinaloense and Mariachi into U.S. instrumental music programs, and he is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Music Education and Arts Leadership at the University of Houston.
Eric is also the founder of Armonía, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to Latino music education through teacher training, curriculum development, and performance opportunities.
A graduate of Prairie View A&M University (B.M. Music Education) and Lamar University (M.Ed. Educational Leadership), Eric is a proud member of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc., and holds honorary memberships in Kappa Kappa Psi and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia
