The History of Leblanc

Leblanc's heritage traces back to 1750 with the founding of Ets. D. Noblet, the oldest woodwind manufacturer in France. In 1905, Georges Leblanc acquired Noblet, merging centuries of French craftsmanship with his own commitment to advancing instrument design. That legacy expanded in 1946 when Georges Leblanc partnered with Vito Pascucci, a band instrument repair technician for the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band, to establish the G. Leblanc Corporation in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Together they introduced a new era of acoustic innovation, precision engineering, and musician-centered design, grounded in the belief that woodwind instruments should be expressive, consistent, and accessible at every stage of learning.

Originally known for clarinets, Leblanc extended this philosophy to oboes and English horns, instruments that demand exceptional stability, tone, and playability. The introduction of durable, wood-like Reso-Tone™ bodies for young players, and meticulously aged and crafted grenadilla wood instruments for advancing and professional musicians, positioned Leblanc as a trusted leader in building oboes and English horns that are dependable, responsive, and musically inspiring. Today, Leblanc continues this legacy by combining generations of craftsmanship with advanced manufacturing processes to achieve remarkable consistency and a beautifully rich, centered sound.
